What The Fluff Do I Wear To A Dog Photo Session?
I know what you might be thinking. "Why do I need to know what to wear to my dog's photo session? This is about them, not me!"
While the focus is of course on your dog, your attire is important, too!
Deciding what to wear for your pet's photo session can be super stressful, but it doesn't have to be. With a little bit of guidance, you can feel confident in knowing just the right outfit and accessories to wear, even if you won't be in many photos.
The key factor here is to dress in whatever you feel good in. If you feel good, that will show in your images.

Layers
These can add depth and interest to your photos. Think scarves, belts, jewelry and of course extra clothing in the cooler months.
Colors: Coordinate, Don't Match
Try to keep everyone working from the same palette. Consider what would make a good match to your furry companions. Neutral and earthy tones work really well (white, cream, tan, greens, etc)
Plan With the End in Mind
Going for something big for the wall? Think about the colors in your home and how you can bring some of that into your photos. Alternatively, sticking with neutral tones can help with matching to any future interior changes.
Get Dressed Up
Make it a special occasion and bust out the fancy dresses! Get dolled up (I can recommend a great hair and makeup artist if you'd like) and really make it a day to remember!
Don't Forget the Footwear
Shoes are important, too! Especially if you're not wanting to be totally in most of the photos.
Whatever type of shoe that fits your style is fine, but consider if those sneakers might need a little freshen up before the big day.
While some of you may just toss your shoes in the washer (guilty), check out this video for treating your shoes to a nice spa day.
Avoid
Solid really bright, neon colors as these don't tend to photograph well. Also try to avoid symmetrical patterns as these can be hard to fix if a leash needs to be removed from that area (things with random patterns or florals are generally okay).
Keep It Simple
A white or black top with a nice pair of jeans and shoes/boots is a classic look and works well any time of year. Dress it up with scarves, jewelry or belts.
